Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT)
Testimonials
I found yoga therapy undertaken once a week for a six-month
period to be highly effective in treating a very painful and
debilitating back condition which involved a herniated disc
and pinched sciatic nerve. Danielle Belec-Van Zeyl's skill
and knowledge in yoga technique, and her sensitivity and
timing in emotional spheres combine to create a powerful
healing process. Indeed, this therapy proved to be the key
element in the successful treatment of my condition. For those
interested in body-mind correspondences, I can see how yoga
therapy can be an excellent adjunct to depth psychotherapy
where psycho-somatic symptoms are involved.

Going through a profound change in my life, I decided to try a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session with Danielle. I have known Danielle for 4 years. She was my Pilates Certification teacher and I loved her skill, passion and knowledge. Going for a Yoga Therapy session, I didn't really know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The session was just amazing. I felt safe in Danielle's presence and in touch with my body. I released old emotional trauma and felt so good and empowered after the session, not only emotionally but also physically.
I strongly believe that if we don't remove emotional blockages
that we carry them around with us and cannot live life to
the fullest. Thank you Danielle!

Over the past seven years my family has had to deal with the terminal illness first of my grandfather, and now my father. I had thought that I was doing a really good job of coping and handling all of the issues that arise with a terminal illness but boy oh boy, was I ever wrong.
I am a naturally a very quiet person and I know that I hold a lot of stuff in. I have an amazing family, an unbelievable boyfriend, great friends, I work hard, eat right, try to take care of myself by working out and try so much to take good care of my parents, not asking them for more than they are already giving. I guess I didn't realize that I was neglecting to take care of my emotional and spiritual needs until I was ready to break. It was showing up in my body, my attitude and in my health. On the outside I just looked tired but something else was going on... it was all bottled up inside while I was trying to carry on and stay strong for my Mom, for my Dad but not for me.
I was exhausted physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally and decided that I had to do something or else I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I did not like the fact that in Yoga Therapy, Danielle and I might be discussing something that bothered me because I am so private and consider myself a strong person that can deal with anything. I mean, I was already doing yoga, pilates and running, and I thought I was getting rid of as much stress as I could.
Danielle explained how the session would work, made sure that I was completely comfortable and then started her magic. She put my body into specific yoga positions that I already knew would leave me vulnerable however she physically supported each position while asking me some questions and then repeating what I had just said back to me. She paid particular attention to the release that she felt in my body while I spoke.
Danielle has an unbelievable gift in reading the body and how it reacts to stress and misalignment, but I think that she also has an amazing gift in figuring out exactly what is bothering you emotionally or spiritually by extracting all of the key points of concern that you had mentioned while feeling how your body lets go while you say it.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a powerful tool, especially when
it is done with someone like Danielle who genuinely cares about
you, is removed from your personal situation and can extract and
help you release your own issues. I trust Danielle and her abilities
to heal more than a medical professional and would recommend anyone
to do a yoga therapy session with her even if they are not
experiencing a major crisis at the time.
